History:
Eggsy’s life is set in modern day, almost completely the same as the world we live in with the addition of the Kingsman organization. Kingsman is a secret intelligence agency that was created after World War I as a means of protecting life and preserving peace. They are discreet, function outside of the world’s governments, and have taken on the cover of tailors. Kingsman traditionally proposes agents that are upper class, but Harry Hart, codename Galahad, chose Eggsy for the potential he possesses despite being born without certain privileges. They met once when Eggsy was a child and his father had died during Kingsman training, but their first official meeting is when Harry bails Eggsy out of jail and offers him a new life. This is where the story starts.
Personality:
The loss of his father at an early age puts Eggsy on a path of anger and bitterness, followed by rash decisions, drugs, and alcohol. He shows that he can be respectful, even when faced with a person he dislikes for their treatment of someone he cares about (his stepfather to his mother), and he does what he can to not start a physical altercation; though he will if necessary. He chooses not to fight when forcefully prodded by his step father's group of thugs, and tries to convince Harry to go so he doesn’t get hurt, even though Eggsy knows he’s about to be himself.
Compassion over self-preservation.
He shows his youth and rebelliousness by stealing their car and taking it for a joy ride; driving it backwards down traffic ridden streets without fear that he’d get hurt. He swerves to avoid hitting an animal, and crashes, demanding that his friends leave so that they don’t get into trouble. Eggsy takes the blame and even after threat of incarceration, he doesn’t tell the police the names of his friends which shows that he is very loyal and he won’t betray anyone even if it would benefit him. He knows he needs help so he swallows any pride getting in the way and asks for it.
A man from his past, Harry Hart, comes to aid him and expresses that his father would be disappointed in the choices Eggsy has made, drugs, alcohol, dropping out of the marines, and Eggsy becomes defensive. He pushes the blame off on to others and tells the Kingsman that he has a better perspective of the world and the way it works, over those born with money, because he's seen it from a grittier and disadvantaged point of view.
He does, however, not argue with Harry when the man tells him that there are always exceptions to the rules, and Eggsy is always quick to consider other’s thoughts and points of view, sometimes changing his own in response.
If you can adapt, you can transform.
Eggsy exhibits intelligence and excels in many areas of the Kingsman training, is proud of his skills, and exudes confidence in what he can do. He’s intensely loyal, and would rather die than reveal a secret; for example, they tie him to active train tracks and demand information on Kingsman, which he doesn’t give even when the train is about to kill him. He shows sheer will no matter the physical danger or negative consequences, and that he places others above himself, as seen during the parachute exercise completed in training.
It is also of note that no matter what he is capable of, he is not able to take the life of an innocent, which is where he fails his final test. He is remorseful when he fails, but doesn’t regret the actions he took that resulted in that failure. Through determination and his ability to work well with others, Eggsy finds his own way to succeed.
